2017 TIMTOS Sees Growing Numbers of International Buyers

The biggest machine tool show in Taiwan, the Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS), ran from March 7 to 12 at the Nangang Exhibition Hall 1, TWTC Exhibition Halls 1 and 3, and Yuanshan EXPO Dome @ Taipei EXPO PARK. President Tsai Ing-Wen visited the Nangang Exhibition Hall 1 on March 11 to get a first-hand view of the latest products and technologies from Taiwan’s machine tool industry. She encouraged local companies to work with the government to develop smart machinery and promised to provide necessary support so the new Nangang Exhibition Hall 2 can be completed in time for TIMTOS 2019.

A total of 1,100 exhibitors joined the show this year, 30% from foreign countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Finland, the U.S.A., Japan, South Korea, India, China, and another 11 countries. More than 7,300 international buyers visited the show—a 2.3% growth compared with that of TIMTOS 2015.

TIMTOS 2017 focused on smart machinery and highlighted Industry 4.0+ and smart manufacturing, showing the latest devices and technologies regarding ICT, IoT, cloud computing, and industrial robots, as well as smart precision machine production lines and smart manufacturing solutions.

The first ever TIMTOS 2017 Summit had speakers from CISCO, NVIDIA and SICK, SIEMENS, and KUKA from Germany to talk about the latest in smart machines, smart factories, the automotive manufacturing revolution, and aerospace supply chain. It was attended by more than 500 people.

The Swedish company, Olsons Maskinservice AB, said that there is something new every time it visits the show and Taiwan’s products and technologies are in the same league with those from the U.S.A. and Europe, but available at a lower price. Aqua Purification Systems was happy to find some innovative products that were not seen in its country of India, while Servicios Profesionales de Ingenieria from Mexico lauded TIMTOS as a great platform for buyers to have access to high-quality products and excellent after-sale services, and that they look forward to a long-term cooperative relationship with Taiwan.
